【摘要】:ThisguideprovidesabroadperspectiveontechniquesthatcanbeusedbyenvironmentalmanagersforselectingVOCairmonitoringmethods.ItsummarizesvariousmethodsformeasurementofVOCinairderivedfromavarietyofsourcesandexperiencesandincorporatesthemintocondensedguidelines.ThisguideprovidesacommonbasisforselectingmethodsforVOCmeasurementaswelladiscussionofthelimitationsoftypicalmethods.Thisguideshouldbeusedduringtheplanningstagesofanairmonitoringprogramalongwithotherapplicableguidesandpractices(forexample,D1357)toselectASTMorotherappropriatemethods.1.1Thisguideprovidesassistanceintheselectionofactiveintegrativesamplingmethods,inwhichthevolatileorganicanalytesarecollectedfromairoveraperiodoftimebydrawingtheairintothesamplingdevice,withsubsequentrecoveryforanalysis.Whereavailable,specificASTMtestmethodsandpracticesarereferenced.1.2Guidanceisprovidedfortheselectionofactivesamplingmethodsbasedeitheroncollectionofanuntreatedairsample(wholeairsamples)orselectivesamplingusingsorbentconcentrationtechniquesthatselectivelyconcentratecomponentsinair.Advantagesanddisadvantagesofspecificcollectionvehiclesarepresented.1.3Thisguidedoesnotcovertheuseofcryogenicallycooledfieldsamplingdevicesusedinsomeautomatedanalysissystems.Detailedinstructionsforcryogenicrecoveryofcompoundscapturedaswholeairsamplesorthermallydesorbedfromsorbentsaretypicallycoveredinstandardmethodsforsampleanalysisandarebeyondthescopeofthisguide.1.4Boththermalandsolventdesorptiontechniquesforsamplerecoveryarediscussed.1.5Organiccompoundsareclassifiedonthebasisofvaporpressureasveryvolatile,volatile,semivolatileandnonvolatile.Physicalcharacteristicsofmanyvolatileorganiccompounds(VOCs)areprovidedtoaidinselectionofsamplingtechniquesforVOCmeasurement.Semivolatileandnonvolatileorganiccompoundsaredefinedintheguidetohelpguideusersavoidmisidentifyingcompoundsthatarenotcoveredinthisguide.1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
